BACKGROUND

Joe Cannon is a Major League Soccer goalkeeper for the San Jose Earthquakes.

One of five athletic brothers, Joe is a younger twin. Older twin Jon, was a pitcher for the Shreveport Swamp Dragons, the Class AA affiliate for the San Francisco Giants. Other brother, Cody, played water polo at the University of the Pacific and was on the junior national team. His youngest brother, Colt, is a skateboarder who was an amateur world champion and has competed in the X Games.

Joe was an All-American soccer player at Santa Clara University and graduated in 1998 with a Bachelor's degree in Political Science.

Never drafted out of college, Joe had to fight his way into the top echelon of MLS. Today he is considered one of the best goalkeepers in Major League Soccer history.

Joe is the founder and head coach of Cannon Mulrooney Soccer Camps. These camps have raised several thousands of dollars for several causes, including the Independent Peer Socialization Training Program (Morgan Center) of which Joe is a board member. The Morgan Center works with kids who have autism and other neurological disorders.

In his free time, Joe enjoys playing golf, reading, playing video games, cycling and listening to music.

Joe blogs for the San Jose Earthquakes at sjearthquakes.com.
