BACKGROUND

Born and raised “Down Under”, Claire got her start riding some of the best and most testing waves in the world, found in West Australia, home to wild seas, great whites and…Claire Bevilacqua. Always an active child, Claire started skateboarding as soon she could walk and has lived by the ocean since birth. Starting surfing at the age of 14 and quickly picking up the skills and technique necessary to do well, Claire jumped straight into competitions.

After shooting up the Junior Australian rankings and receiving tremendous support from sponsors, Claire claimed the title of State Champion as well as the Australian Pro Junior Champion after only four years competing.

In 2004, Claire moved onto the World Qualifying Series. Her commitment, hard work, focus and training helped Claire make the cut for the World Championship Tour. After four years of competing as one of the top female surfers on the World Championship Tour, Claire decided she needed a change. Deciding to take a break from the competition circuit, she took a year off to focus on writing, shooting and filming for sponsors as well as surfline.com.

In 2006, Claire collaborated with Volcom to create the “Bevo Signature Series,” a line of girls shorts.

Recapturing a drive similar to that which she felt when she began her career years ago, 2009 marked Claire’s return to competitive surfing. With her first win this year under her belt at Pipeline, which shot her to 3rd on the World Qualifying Series ratings, and the success of her online column Bevos Backwash for Surfline, Claire looks forward to her future endeavors and what’s next on the horizon.

Claire loves to live-and-learn while keeping things real-and-raw. Surfing is her not only her job, but also her hobby and greatest passion. She is always trying to inspire others to do their best, be natural and love themselves for the contributing individual they were born to be.

Claire’s motivation comes from nature; she is an avid contributor and activist for the protection, education and conservation of the environment as well as alternative/natural medicine and remedies.
