BACKGROUND

The Yahoo Wellness Expert, Random House author and co-founder of At One Yoga got his start in 1996 after he realized that yoga, as entertainment, was a major business opportunity, seeing the possibility to of weaving an ancient tradition with pop culture sensibilities.

Along with some similarly inspired friends, David co-founded At One Yoga in 1998, a chain of studios in Arizona. At One Yoga has proved huge success and has quickly turned Phoenix into a yoga town. At One Yoga was ranked by Biz Az Magazine as a Top Growth Company in 2002.

Success in one city wasn’t enough for David. He wanted to share his pop culture brand of yoga with the inexperienced all across the nation. In 2004, David joined forces with Katrina Markoff, founder of Vosges Haut-Chocolate and 2007 Entrepreneur Magazine’s Woman of the Year, and together they created The Yoga + Chocolate Experience. The two-combined luxuries became a huge success and the debut of Yoga + Chocolate retreat was featured in The New York Times and O Magazine, listed as “What’s Hot in Yoga”.

David’s success of Yoga + Chocolate then led him to join forces with Angela Gargano in the creation of Yoga+Wine. Since 2005, David has toured the nation sharing both Yoga + Chocolate and Yoga + Wine.

In 2006, David became a Yahoo Wellness Expert, which gave him a vast platform on which to share his unique, fresh spin on self-help, inspiration and wellness. David’s blogs, often featured on the Yahoo home page, as well as his popular online newsletter, THE SCHTICK, has helped David gain recognition as a unique voice representing a generation vastly underrepresented in the world of Self-Help. His unique niche earned him a book deal with Broadway Books in 2007.

The Self-Help industry was an $11 billion industry in 2008. All voices and personalities that represented the genre were of the baby-boomer generation - and were not gaining any new fans. The younger generations were struggling to enjoy life, to take time away from gadgets and to live in the moment. Seeing a void, David came up with an irreverent brand of inspiration that deeply resonates with the younger generations while his humor brings a totally fresh spin to the age-old Self-Help message, thus enabling him to also resonate with both his contemporaries and the older generations. David’s debut book Yeah Dave’s Guide to Livin’ the Moment: Getting to Ecstasy through Wine, Chocolate and your iPod Playlist was launched on March 17, 2009. Only two months later, David’s book shot to the top of the Amazon.com Bestseller List and the weekend of June 28th was the #1 Bestselling Self-Help book as well as the #13 Bestselling Book Overall.

In addition to David’s 25-city, Livin’ the Moment Tour in 2009 and his reach across the internet, David presents an interesting and very unique opportunity. He’s at the nexus of the internet/blogger world and the grassroots/hands-on yoga world. He is young, energetic and has a fresh point of view with major potential.

In addition to being an author and yoga guru, David is a speaker - having presented to American Express, The American Association of Nurse Anesthetists, National Cervical Cancer Coalition and many more.
